Compensation and Benefits

That philosophy is put into practice, in part, by our benefits programs. The following summarizes our benefits, which include:

Medical/Prescription/Dental

If you elect coverage under The Tyco Electronics Health Care Connection, you receive the Open Access Plan through CIGNA Healthcare. This includes a Prescription Drug Program providing benefits at both pharmacies and via mail-order. A dental plan is also available.


401(k) Retirement Savings and Investment Plan

When you save through the Plan, Tyco Electronics will match your savings, up to plan limits. A variety of investment options are available, including company stock.

If you participated in a qualified 401(k) plan at a previous employer, you may directly roll over your balance into Tyco Electronic's plan after you become an employee.


Short Term and Long Term Disability

The company paid Short Term Disability plan automatically covers regular status employees working 20 or more hours per week. All newly eligible employees may join the Long Term Disability plan without providing proof of good health. The plan will cover 60% of your pay should a disability claim be approved by the plan administrator.


Life Insurance

The company provides basic life insurance coverage equal to 1x your base annual salary, as well as Business Travel Accident Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) at no cost to you. Supplemental life insurance and Personal and Family Accident Insurance are offered at additional cost.


Family and Medical Leave Program

Eligible employees may take up to 12 weeks family and medical leave under the federal Family Medical Leave Act and/or Oregon Family Medical Leave Act.


Adoption Assistance Program

Tyco Electronics will reimburse you up to $5,000 for eligible costs associated with adopting a child.


Vacation

Full-time, regular status employees received two weeks of vacation time each fiscal year. Vacation time begins accruing and accumulating respectively on the first day of employment. After five years of service, vacation hours will accrue at the rate of three weeks per fiscal year. Between the 11th and 14th years of service, employees earn one additional day of vacation each year until the employee's 15th year, when the employee receives four weeks of vacation. After 25 years of service, an employee receives five weeks of vacation time each fiscal year.

Employees must wait until after completing their Introductory Period before they may use their accrued vacation time.


Personal Time

Full-time, regular status employees accrue 48 hours of personal time each fiscal year.


Educational Reimbursement

The company believes that the ongoing training and education of its employees is a key to both personal and professional growth, and ultimately to the ongoing success of the organization. In addition to training and development programs provided by the company, employees are encouraged to pursue their academic interests by providing reimbursement of expenses associated with the pursuit of degrees at accredited colleges and universities.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

We recognize that employees will, from time-to-time, be faced with personal challenges which require both professional assistance and confidentiality.

A 24-hour toll-free number is available to all employees as well as in-person counseling.


Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) are available to employees who wish to take pre-tax deductions from their income to pay for non-reimbursed medical expenses and/or for dependent care costs.


Costco and Credit Union Memberships

We provide our employees with access to Costco and Oregon Central Credit Union memberships at a corporate rate. Costco is a large scale food and sundry buying club.

Credit union memberships are available through Oregonian's Federal Credit Union, First Tech Credit Union and Tyco Federal Credit Union.
